An Introduction To Planet Earth

A ball of rock in motion

Flying fast through empty space

Mountains

Deserts

Oceans

All occupy this place

Spinning like a top

While it’s orbiting at pace

~

Down upon the sphere

Reside creatures high and low

In the deepness of the ocean

Where they first began to grow

But time had passed

And life evolved

Creatures grew fast

As the Earth revolved

The mystery of life remained unsolved

~

Man grew too

This ape-like thing

Except that

Being meanest made you king

Morality

Was just one trait

That didn’t grow in all offspring

~

Well, in some it did

~

Others preferred the storm they’d bring

~

Man flew through space

They’d touched the moon

They’d evolved machines

Perhaps too soon

~

Yet, for all the wisdom brought

By the consciousness they’d gained

They couldn’t change as sought

Instead the Earth became bloodstained

~

Millennia pass and few men remained

Earth was just another floating rock

The climate hot, most species slain

Destroyed in a rotation of the clock

~

Most men were fools

That much is clear

They were their own existential threat

They’d unloaded bombs upon their sphere

Because another owed a debt

Now they’ve nothing left to fear

~

We’d been watching them

For a millennium

Recording their existence

So we could teach the other worlds to come

To lead a better life, with our insistence

~

Although Earth’s now inhospitable

There’s still a place among the stars

Where a human colony lives commendably

As inhabitants of Mars

      1. Selective because he unknowingly implanted all these space knowledge in my head, so if it’s a bit inaccurate like this one song that goes “Let’s go and see the stars
The milky way or even mars ” I mean come on. Thanks to my husband I end up watching all the movies and all seasons of Star trek, star wars, and babylon 5 (which we haven’t finish yet with a 2 year old around? Impossible.) I fell damn in love with captain Kirk haha 😀

      2. The old Kirk or the new one?

I’ve also watched a lot of star trek and star wars. I love spaces! I just watched a documentary on black holes a little while ago. 😂

You’re just a hopeless romantic. Atleast you found a crush in Star Trek. I’ve always preferred Picard. The man who never ages.

      3. Oh don’t get me wrong. His my favorite captain because his personality is closer to my husband. But original captain kirk (as I prefer to call him) is that rough, wild rebel type that I use to crush on as a kid haha 😀

PS: I may belong to the newer generation but I never finish watching the first film of the new Star Trek. I didn’t like the idea of seeing the old enterprise crew acted by another actors… ah ah, I don’t like it one bit.

      4. Same! I’ve only watched the first one of the new series but thought it was boring. Too Hollywood or something. I liked the young Russian guy.

I’ve heard William Shattner is kind of a jerk though haha He used to play at a theater in Ontario close to me when he was younger. I believe he’s Canadian.

      5. The thing about me and actor or singers is that I don’t care about them as a person.
I may have a crush on captain Kirk but if ever the young William Shattner were to popped in front of me, I won’t go out my way to speak to him or shake his hand.
The one I like is the characters not the actors behind them. In fact, I try to avoid reading about actor and singers personal lives because I want to judge their talents not personality.
I can go on and on about this but I might bore you haha 😀

      6. It’s great stuff. Most people would be starstruck, but I agree, knowing too much about an actor or an artist can draw away from their talents. Although not always. I dislike Kanye West for a lot of the dumb stuff he does and says but some of his old music was really amazing. I’m not much of a fan of his anymore though.

I like picking your mind. ;p P.s. When can I email you my questions for this Behind the Author interview? I’ve never received a reply from you via your contact form. I would love to start this whenever you’re free.

      7. Your Kanye West experience is the same with my Britney Spears opinion. I hate her songs now, but I proudly flaunt her old songs as my favorite. 😁

Oh and sorry for the delay, it took me a bit time to find the email but I replied you about an hour ago.
