Elon Musk And Neuralink – Linking Humans And AI

“The human brain has 100 billion neurons, each neuron connected to 10 thousand other neurons. Sitting on your shoulders is the most complicated object in the known universe.” – Michio Kaku

Elon Musk has made an announcement recently, about a creation by one of his startup companies Neuralink. It aims to merge humans and AI by implanting technology in the brain capable of better translating the brain’s electric signals.

Later as development rolls on, they hope to merge the human mind with tech completely, in a few decades perhaps. If it sounds like some scary Sci-Fi movie, that’s just because we are living in an age where Sci-Fi scenarios of the past are becoming reality in the present. I don’t usually do posts on tech advancements or pop news, but this topic was too hot to pass up! Maybe you’ve already heard the news, but if not, you’re in for a treat.

Linking the brain to computer software is not new in science exactly, back in 2006 a man who was completely paralyzed was able to control a computer cursor using his brain with tech implanted by Brown University in a project called BrainGate. Yet it pales in comparison to what Neuralink is planning on doing with it’s tech. They essentially want to link you to your cell phone one day, so that you access and process information exponentially faster than you’re able to now.

There’s a great presentation that Elon did on C-Net, which you can watch here. If you care to do so.

Basically, Neuralink has created a robot to implant threads very carefully and precisely into the brain, and these threads attach to a computer chip. This computer chip will be able to send signals out so that you could access devices like your phone with your brainwaves. It’s only been tested on rat’s so far but they plan on starting trials on human subjects in the next 2 years. This could be hugely beneficial for people living with disabilities like paralysis or Parkinson’s, but I can already see these implants being made to create super soldiers and super politicians.

You just know life’s about to get a little crazy when we start creating robo-people .

The development is expected to be a slow process but it’s still exciting to see huge advancements in this world that we live in. Plus, Elon Musk is kind of my hero with all of his amazing startup companies. They’re about more than just another buck, they’re about evolving humanity!

The problem with most companies out there right now is that they’re all driven by financial reward as their number one priority. So, few of them sincerely care about doing what’s best for people and creating progressive change.

In North America right now, finding a decent job that pays a living wage is becoming harder and harder, while most products and services are still becoming more expensive!

…Because 100 dollars means you’re ballin’ now days

Our societies are in a choke-hold from corrupt systems backed by greedy Capitalist motivations. We need to stop looking towards politicians to fix our problems and to look towards our scientists and brilliant minds. Also, I think most politicians should need to pass some sort of morality test to weed out corruption. Those with the highest moral principles should be the ones in office. They’re leading our societies into the future.

Anyways! That’s it from me. Hopefully you’ve learned something.

So, what do you think? Would you want to blog directly from your brain?

Would we even be writing anymore or just “thinking”?

  1. Thank you so much for this informative and interesting post! It helped me to gain much knowledge about science and technology around the world.
Personally, I wouldn’t usually like to write directly from brain because it would take half the fun of writing. But when I am tired or in a situation where I can’t write, for example in car, then I would like to use my brain.
And I don’t think it would be called writing any more because just the brain is working… 😃
    (P.S. I see a faint Logician connection here…😀)

    1. At least, I kind of trust Elon Musk! I’d rather he develop it then the government! He likes to ruminate on all of the possible consequences at least. He fears AI will one day take over the world, and I think, this is important to him because he thinks this will give us more power with machines.

  2. One can only imagine what the future holds. Artificial Intelligence and automation is happening now. The next logical step is to have Humanity connected by this NeuraLink which Elon Musk is developing. However, as scary as that may sound to most, it is something that is coming. I can not predict how quickly, or the impacts to Civilization, but I can say, that applications to HealthCare, Policing, fighting wars, and even debating with others will be transformed. Actually, I personally can not wait to see this unfold. FutureFantastic.net
